ARUNACHAL

The curtains came down on the 3rd edition of Arunachal Runway on Sunday evening at Wai International Hotel, Itanagar, with an atmosphere filled with colour, rhythm, and cultural pride. This year, the prestigious fashion and cultural showcase paid a heartfelt tribute to the Adi community, celebrating its traditions under the theme “Solung Gidi Em Agampe.” The event, regarded as one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most promising platforms for creative expression, brought together seven young designers who presented a collaborative collection. Their work combined traditional Adi motifs and handwoven fabrics with modern fashion trends, creating an engaging blend of heritage and contemporary aesthetics. Models walked the runway in ensembles that highlighted not just fashion, but also stories of community identity, pride, and resilience.

The finale evening drew a large audience, including fashion enthusiasts, cultural activists, youth representatives, and art lovers. The presence of RD Transport and Panchayat Minister Ojing Tasing as chief guest and former Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) President Toni Pertin as guest of honour added weight to the celebration. In his address, Minister Tasing praised the Arunachal Runway team for creating a platform where local designers could showcase their creativity while staying rooted in indigenous aesthetics. He also urged the organizers to link cultural events with social awareness, particularly the campaign against drug abuse among the youth, which has emerged as a serious concern in the state.

Guest of Honour Toni Pertin applauded the organisers for shining a spotlight on the Adi community. He observed that cultural and fashion events play a powerful role in strengthening pride, unity, and self-confidence among young people. Pertin also noted that the Runway had created a vibrant space where tradition and modernity could exist together in harmony.
