National award-winning actor and theatre veteran Adil Hussain has been named the Festival Ambassador for Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2025, the state’s premier celebration of performing arts and cultural heritage. The announcement comes as the festival gears up to showcase the Northeast’s rich tradition in theatre, music, and dance, attracting visitors from across India.
A native of Goalpara, Assam, Hussain has earned acclaim for his remarkable versatility on stage and screen. He has appeared in films like Ishqiya, English Vinglish, Lootera, and Mukti Bhawan, as well as international productions such as Life of Pi, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and What Will People Say. His performances have been celebrated at major film festivals including Venice, Toronto, and Berlin. Notably, he received a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for Mukti Bhawan and the Best Actor Award at the Nordic International Film Festival, New York, for his Assamese film Maj Rati Keteki.
Off-screen, Hussain is a dedicated advocate of conscious cinema—films that inspire reflection and empathy—and a respected mentor at institutions including the National School of Drama, FTII Pune, and the Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts in Bhutan.
As the festival ambassador, Hussain is expected to infuse the event with his deep understanding of performance arts, bridging traditional narratives with a contemporary sensibility. Organizers said his involvement would elevate the festival’s profile and draw attention to Arunachal Pradesh’s vibrant cultural landscape.
The Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2025 promises to be a celebration of the region’s artistic soul, with Hussain leading the way in highlighting performances that are both rooted in local culture and resonant globally.
