African Swine Fever (ASF) is rife in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, authorities revealed. West Siang District Magistrate Liyi Bagra stated that in order to stop the disease from spreading further, the district government has outlawed both the importation of pigs from outside the area and the transfer of pigs and piglets between districts. The administration has also mandated that a veterinary officer conduct an anti-mortem examination on all pigs that are going to be killed and that the animals that pass the inspection have their ears tagged. However, this rule also applies to people who slaughter pigs for any reason, including butchers. Authorities issued a warning that anyone found in violation of these regulations will be prosecuted under the applicable laws.
