At a time when Indian air defense systems successfully stopped Pakistani drone, missile, and aircraft attacks during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army is about to receive an additional Rs 30,000 crore in support of a new surface-to-air missile system that the Defense Ministry is anticipated to approve for purchase shortly. Three regiments of the Army Air Defense’s indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system (WRSAM) are to be purchased by the Defense Ministry and deployed at the country’s northern and western borders.

According to them, the missile systems, which were created by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, are extremely mobile because they can follow and seek targets while they are moving and fire at brief stops. The system would supplement the current short- to medium-range systems in the forces, such as the MRSAM and Akash, with a range of about 30 kilometers. Throughout the testing, the missile system’s performance has been thoroughly assessed in both daytime and nighttime operational settings.

The Defense Acquisition Council meeting is scheduled for the fourth week of June. The Indian Army’s air defense units used L-70 and Zu-23 air defense guns to destroy most of the drones during the four-day battle with Pakistan, which was armed with Chinese weapons. The Indian Air Force’s Spydwr and Sudarshan S-400 air defense systems, as well as the Akash and MRSAM, were also instrumental.
