Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has congratulated para-athlete Tingong Wangpan for winning a gold medal and setting a new national record at the 24th Senior National Para Athletics Championships held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.Wangpan, who hails from Longding district, secured first place in the men’s 100 metre T35 category. Along with winning the gold medal, he also created a new national record in the event. His performance has brought recognition not only to his district but also to the state.
In a message shared on social media, the Chief Minister appreciated Wangpan’s hard work and discipline. He described the achievement as an important moment for Arunachal Pradesh and said it reflects the growing strength of sports talent in the state.Khandu noted that athletes from remote areas like Longding are now making their presence felt at the national level. He said such achievements show that with dedication and the right support, sportspersons from every part of the state can perform well and bring laurels.
The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to Wangpan for his future competitions. He expressed hope that the athlete will continue to perform strongly at national and international events.
