The Arunachal Pradesh government has terminated the service of Finance and Accounts Officer (FAO) Gomo Sora for his alleged involvement in the question paper leak scandal surrounding the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) exam conducted in August 2022. The decision was announced in an official statement on Thursday. Governor KT Parnaik issued an order for the immediate dismissal of Sora, who was serving in the office of the deputy commissioner at Yupia. The termination follows disciplinary proceedings initiated against him for misconduct linked to the scandal.
The governor’s order stated that Sora’s actions constituted “grave misconduct” that undermined public trust in the integrity and transparency of the state’s recruitment process. “It was highly unbecoming of a public servant, and such a person should not be allowed to continue in the job under the state government,” the order emphasized. The paper leak case surfaced when a candidate filed a police complaint regarding irregularities in the assistant engineer (civil) examination conducted by the APPSC. Subsequent investigations revealed a larger conspiracy involving multiple individuals.
So far, ten people, including the APPSC deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examinations, have been arrested for their alleged roles in the scam. The case was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough probe.
