Arunachal Pradesh Education and Tourism Minister P.D. Sona was elected unopposed as President of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA) at the Association’s 43rd Annual General Body Meeting-cum-Election for the executive committee tenure 2026–2030, held on Monday.
The election was carried out under the supervision of the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, legal experts, and observers from the Sports Association of Arunachal Pradesh, in the presence of representatives from affiliated state units.
The election and appointment ceremony was attended by Director of Sports Tadar Aapa, Director of Arunachal State Sports (ASS) Guia Karbak, and other senior officials. Upon completion of the process, appointment letters were formally issued by the competent authority.
Addressing the media, Sona expressed his gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and assured his wholehearted commitment to advancing Taekwondo in the state. He also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing executive committee led by Kipa Kaha, noting that a new team has been formed with renewed zeal and purpose.
“We are optimistic and will make every effort to ensure that sports, especially Taekwondo, scale new heights in Arunachal Pradesh,” Sona said, adding that the association would work with dedication to promote sports culture across the state.
He further stated that the newly constituted executive committee would deliberate on new initiatives to strengthen and expand Taekwondo in Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, ATA General Secretary Likha Robin said the election process was conducted smoothly and peacefully. He added that the new executive committee is united and functioning with strong team spirit, expressing confidence that Taekwondo in the state will progress further under the leadership of President P.D. Sona.
