Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Chowna Mein has called for stronger collective efforts to protect wildlife and preserve the state’s rich biodiversity. Speaking on the occasion of World Wildlife Day, he urged people to take responsibility in safeguarding forests and endangered species.

Mein said conservation is not only about protecting animals and forests but also about maintaining the ecological balance that supports all forms of life. He appealed to citizens to act as responsible stewards of nature and work together to protect the natural environment.

In a message shared on the occasion of World Wildlife Day on March 3, the deputy chief minister highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife and natural habitats. “On this World Wildlife Day, let us protect the extraordinary biodiversity that enriches our planet with life and colour,” he said in a post on social media platform X.

He also spoke about the unique ecological richness of Arunachal Pradesh. The state is known for its vast forest cover and diverse wildlife. It is home to several rare and endangered species such as the red panda, snow leopard and the white-bellied heron.

Mein said protecting these species and their habitats requires continuous efforts from both the government and the public. He stressed that preserving biodiversity is essential not only for the environment but also for future generations.

Calling for stronger action, he said people must work together to protect forests, conserve endangered wildlife and promote a balanced relationship between human activities and nature.

“As responsible stewards of nature, we must intensify our efforts to safeguard our forests, conserve endangered species, and encourage a harmonious and sustainable coexistence,” Mein said.

He also urged people to renew their commitment to protecting the state’s natural wealth. “Let us reaffirm our collective commitment to protect and preserve our priceless natural heritage for generations to come,” he added.

World Wildlife Day is observed every year on March 3 across the world to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife and biodiversity. The day highlights the role wildlife plays in maintaining ecological balance, supporting livelihoods and sustaining ecosystems.
