Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on December 11 emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to managing defence lands that balances national security, environmental sustainability, and the welfare of local communities. During a meeting with S N Gupta, Principal Director of Defence Estates under the Eastern Command Kolkata, at Raj Bhavan, Governor Parnaik stressed the importance of optimizing defence land usage for infrastructure development while safeguarding military preparedness. “Collaborative efforts between civil and military authorities are essential to align defence needs with local development aspirations,” he remarked.
Highlighting the significance of transparency and fairness, the governor urged strict adherence to protocols in land acquisition and hiring processes. He directed Gupta to ensure due diligence and maintain robust communication with local administrations to foster strong civil-military relations.
S N Gupta provided an overview of defence land management challenges in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting was attended by Defence Estates Director K V Nagi Reddy and Defence Estate Officer Koli Akash Santosh, who also deliberated on strategies to enhance efficiency and compliance.
