The Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology (APSCS&T) has been honoured with a national-level recognition at the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, bringing rare scientific spotlight to the frontier state. The Council received the “Jury Special Mention Award” in the Science–Technology–Defence–Space Exhibition category for its impactful work in research outreach, biotechnology and bioresource conservation. The award was handed over during the IISF held from December 6 to December 9, a four-day national festival that showcased some of India’s most advanced scientific achievements.
According to officials, the recognition underlines the growing participation of Arunachal Pradesh in national technology platforms at a time when the state has been focusing on research infrastructure, skill programmes and community-oriented scientific projects. The award also highlights the emerging role of the state in areas such as biotechnology, bioresources and sustainable development, which are considered crucial sectors for the Himalayan region.
A senior team from APSCS&T took part in the high-level event. The delegation was led by Joint Director (Administration) Shri Sangrakpa Khochey along with Shri Sourav Kumar Pathak, Scientist-C at the DBT-APSCS&T Centre of Excellence for Bioresources and Sustainable Development located at Kimin. Three other officials from the Council and the Centre of Excellence were also part of the group that represented Arunachal Pradesh in the national exhibition.
During the festival, APSCS&T presented a wide range of projects that have been carried out in the state over recent years. The exhibition stall showcased initiatives on conservation of bioresources, biotechnology-based innovations, beekeeping technologies, honey processing, value-added apiculture products and several science programmes supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Skill development modules and community outreach activities were also displayed as part of the presentation.
