
In a disturbing incident at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Megdong in Kamle district, a Class 9 student was allegedly subjected to severe physical assault and mental harassment by four senior classmates from Class 12. The incident has raised serious concerns about student safety within the institution.
According to Superintendent of Police Techi Hanyir, the victim’s family lodged a formal complaint, following which the police detained the four juvenile students involved. “We have initiated proceedings under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The matter is under investigation, and we are working to ensure the safety of all students at the school,” said the SP.
Authorities at JNV Megdong have been notified of the incident and are reportedly taking measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The school administration is expected to strengthen anti-ragging policies, provide counseling, and implement stricter supervision to safeguard students from bullying and harassment.
