Bajaj Auto has resumed deliveries of its popular electric scooter, the Chetak, across all dealerships in India. This follows a brief pause in supply caused by a global shortage of rare earth magnets, which are essential components in electric vehicle manufacturing. The company confirmed that production and shipments restarted on August 20, earlier than anticipated, ensuring timely availability ahead of the festive season. Bajaj has now secured sufficient stock of rare earth magnets and other crucial materials to avoid further disruptions.

Eric Vas, President of Bajaj Auto’s Urbanite Business Unit, thanked customers for their patience and reiterated the company’s focus on delivering quality. He said that demand for the Chetak remains strong, deliveries have begun, and production is being scaled up to meet growing demand.

The Chetak has gained significant traction, doubling its market share since April last year and closing FY25 as India’s best-selling electric scooter. To further boost its reach, Bajaj has launched the new Chetak 3001, priced at ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom), featuring a larger 3.0 kWh battery, improved range of 127 km, and enhanced storage, competing with rivals like TVS iQube, Ola S1, and Ather Rizta.
