Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife & Biodiversity) and Chief Wildlife Warden of Arunachal Pradesh, N. Tam, inaugurated a traditional bird-watching tower at Borguli village on the banks of the Siang River, next to the D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS), as part of a major effort to promote wildlife tourism and conservation. Prominent academicians and environmentalists, as well as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Mebo) Sibo Passing, DFO of D. Ering WLS Kempy Ete, and Eco-Clean Mebo Mission Manager Olen Megu Damin, were among the eminent visitors who attended the occasion.
The Ratan Welfare Society built the bird-watching tower as part of their Mission Ta:tang and Eco-Clean Mebo Mission with the goal of drawing both domestic and foreign bird enthusiasts to the area. N. Tam, who spoke at the event, emphasized the tower’s dual function of enabling birding experiences and giving local youngsters job prospects. He pointed out that one of the sanctuary’s main draws for visitors is its abundant biodiversity, which includes highly endangered species like the Bengal Florican.
The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment’s (ATREE) founding president, Kamal Bawa, emphasized the value of community involvement in conservation initiatives. ADC Mebo Sibo Passing and RWS President David Ratan were among the stakeholders who participated in interactive sessions at the event, which emphasized the value of protecting natural assets. It is anticipated that the bird-watching tower will be an essential venue for advancing ecotourism, preserving biodiversity, and establishing long-term economic viability in the Borguli area.
