According to the Alipur Meteorological Office, light to moderate rain with thunder may occur in Kolkata and neighboring areas in the next one to two hours. Along with the rain, gusty winds of 40 to 50 km can also blow. An orange warning has also been issued by the Meteorological Department due to the rain.
The maximum temperature in Kolkata on Sunday was 30.3 degrees Celsius. Which is four degrees less than normal. The sky has been cloudy since Monday morning. The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of thundershowers in Kolkata between Monday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms are likely to occur across South Bengal from Monday onward. This rain may continue until Thursday. After that, the weather is likely to change.
Besides Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas districts are likely to experience light rain with thundershowers on Monday. East Medinipur, West Medinipur, Purulia, Jhargram, and Bankura districts may experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers. Light to moderate rain with thundershowers may occur in all districts of South Bengal from Tuesday to Thursday. While the weather in North Bengal will remain dry on Monday, South Dinajpur and Maldah districts may receive light rain on Tuesday. However, there is a possibility of light rain in all the districts of North Bengal on Wednesday and Thursday, the weather office said.
