Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has declared an enhancement in financial support for the Donyi-Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired located in Itanagar. Founded in 1990 by former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, the institution offers complimentary education, therapy, and skill development for children with hearing, visual, and intellectual disabilities. Mein has committed to raising the school’s annual grant-in-aid from ₹1.4 Crore to ₹2 Crore and has also pledged a ₹5 Crore Corpus Fund to ensure long-term sustainability. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of vocational creativity and communication skills for youth with disabilities, instructing his office to source paper bags made from recycled materials.
