
Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh attended the Karsha Monastery in Ladakh’s ‘Yarchos Chenmo’, a summer dharma gathering, on July 25 along with thousands of devotees at Zanskar’s Karsha Photang. Nearly 30,000 spiritual seekers gathered beneath the expansive Ladakhi skies to hear lectures from the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, in front of the revered audience. In a social media post, Khandu highlighted the timeless wisdom and quiet power of compassion that the revered Tibetan leader exuded, describing his meeting with the Dalai Lama in Ladakh as a profoundly humbling and spiritually uplifting experience.
Khandu is in Ladakh at the moment. The renowned Tibetan spiritual master gave a stirring talk on important Buddhist ideas, such as the Four Noble Truths, compassion, dependent origination, emptiness, and the Bodhisattva path. The chief minister said the lessons were profound and elegant, providing a timely reminder of the enduring power of compassion and peace. “In a world where disagreement is common, incidents like this serve as a reminder that peace is a practice rather than only a pipe dream. Additionally, compassion is a virtue rather than a weakness, Khandu stated in a different social media post.
