Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricket legend, has been selected as Bihar’s vice-captain for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season, which starts on October 15. The 15-member Bihar team for the opening two games against Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur was announced by the Bihar Cricket Association on Sunday, with Suryavanshi serving as Sakibul Gani’s deputy. Bihar’s campaign will begin in Patna against Arunachal before they head to Naidad to play Manipur.
After making his Ranji debut for Bihar at the age of 12, Suryavanshi has demonstrated enormous promise. Since then, he has played in away series against Australia and England for the India U-19 team. While playing for the Rajasthan Royals, he also became the Indian Premier League’s youngest player and youngest centurion. He scored the second-fastest IPL century after amassing a ton of runs in 35 deliveries.
Suryavanshi, who is from Samastipur, has already made history with his remarkable accomplishments. He became the youngest player in the history of the Ranji Trophy when he made his debut against Mumbai in the 2023–24 season at the age of just 12 years and 284 days.
Additionally, he broke the global record formerly held by Kamran Ghulam of Pakistan, who got a century off 53 balls in 2019, by smashing the fastest Youth ODI century off just 52 balls. He broke the Indian record for the most sixes in a single match (10), which was set in the same innings.
In the 170-year history of competitive cricket, he became the youngest centurion at 13 years and 188 days. With a century off 58 balls against Australia in the first juvenile Test in Chennai, he also set the record for the fastest century by an Indian at the juvenile level. Just behind England’s Moeen Ali, who reached the century in 56 balls, this scorching 58-ball century is the second-fastest at this level ever.
