Donggin Festival of Adi Bori Community is being celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour across Arunachal Pradesh from Monday.

Attending the festival as the Chief Guest , Mayor of Itanagar Likha Nari Tadar, asked the people to uphold cultural identity. He also stressed on the role of young generations to carry forward the unique cultural identity of tribal society in today’s modern world.

Donggin is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Bori or Adi community of Arunachal Pradesh. Donggin among Adi means the spring which is celebrated from February 2 to 5.

During the festival, they worship and provide offerings to their deities for blessing and good harvest.

Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the festival by sprinkling etting (rice powder) and Apong (Rice beer) on the Liih (a ritual altar).

A gamut of folk dance presentation by the various Rasengs (Women Group) mark the day.
