Wall collapse (2)

At least four labourers lost their lives and three others were injured after a wall collapsed during a landslide at Niti Vihar in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar on Monday afternoon, officials said.According to police, the incident took place around 4 pm following continuous heavy rainfall in the area. The rain had weakened the soil, leading to a sudden landslide at a worksite where several labourers were present.Officials said a wall at the site gave way as the ground became unstable. Mud and debris quickly slid down, trapping seven workers under it. Local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident.

Rescue operations were carried out under difficult conditions due to wet and unstable soil. It took time for teams to locate the trapped workers as the mud had become dense after hours of rain. Despite these challenges, all seven labourers were pulled out from the debris. However, doctors later confirmed that four of them had died. The three injured workers were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is being monitored by medical staff.

Itanagar Capital Region Superintendent of Police Jummar Basar said continuous rainfall made the situation worse and slowed down rescue efforts. He said teams worked carefully to avoid further collapse while searching for the trapped workers. The deceased have been identified as Choki Tasar (23), Godak Raja (30), Godak Tabin (35), and Ratan Barman (26).
