Governor Emphasizes Value of Inter-University Exchanges for National Identity and Global Exposure

Governor KT Parnaik, who also serves as the Chief Rector of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), has strongly advocated for robust inter-university exchange programs. During a high-level meeting at Lok Bhavan on Sunday, the governor highlighted that such initiatives are essential for promoting mutual understanding, unity in diversity, and a deep-seated sense of national identity among the youth. The governor met with Bhuvan Sareen, East India Zonal Head of Punjab-based Lovely Professional University (LPU), and Kshiord Kumar Saikia, Assistant Director of LPU’s Guwahati-based Outreach Centre. During the discussion, Parnaik noted that these exchanges allow the younger generation from across India to better appreciate the unique customs and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

Beyond cultural integration, the governor emphasized that future exchange programs should maintain a sharp focus on technology, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and research. A central theme of the governor’s address was the need for a “triple helix” of collaboration involving universities, industries, and startups. He argued that such partnerships are vital to equipping students with the practical skills required to drive India’s economic growth.

“Collaboration among universities, along with industries and startups, would equip students with practical skills needed for India’s growth,” the governor stated. He specifically encouraged joint research initiatives targeting national priorities, including. Governor Parnaik further advised the visiting officials to explore stronger linkages with incubators and innovation hubs. By connecting students with successful entrepreneurs, he believes universities can transition from producing job seekers to nurturing “job creators.”

To prepare students for an increasingly evolving and interconnected world, the governor underscored the importance of strengthening digital literacy, communication skills, and adaptability. He concluded that these competencies are the foundation for success in the modern global landscape.

The meeting at Lok Bhavan signals a growing interest in connecting the educational landscape of Arunachal Pradesh with premier institutions across the country to enhance the employability and perspective of the state’s student population.
