In a series of inaugurations and engagements at Pasighat in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik emphasized the transformative power of education, empathy, and innovation in governance. Speaking at the New Age Learning Centre (NALC) opening ceremony at the district library, the governor praised the project as an essential step in fostering young students’ creativity and intellectual curiosity. He said that the idea of NALC is gradually gaining popularity throughout the state and that he was confident that the Pasighat center’s success would encourage the establishment of similar hubs in every town and district.
Through frequent seminars and creative programs, he persuaded administrators to turn the center into a thriving center of literary and intellectual activity. He gave governor’s pens to local poets Ayang Doley, Otul Jerang, Yang Megu, and Nana Toyang Taloh, who took part in a poetry recital hosted by the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (Pasighat chapter) to commemorate the event, and praised the deputy commissioner and library officials for their initiative. Those in attendance included Yayum Riba, the deputy director of public libraries, Tapi Darang, the local MLA, and Sonalika Jiwani, the deputy commissioner of East Siang.
Later, at the Pasighat women’s police station, the governor opened “Ane’s Home,” a facility for child safety and rehabilitation. Under one roof, the institution combines community participation programs, psychiatric and trauma counseling, legal aid, a child-safe room, and support for menstrual hygiene. He urged staff at Ane’s Home to promote social transformation and cultivate a safer, gentler society while highlighting community outreach and school-level understanding of “Good Touch and Bad Touch.” Inspector Amum Payeng, the officer-in-charge of the women’s police station, gave the governor an update on the project and described Ane’s Home as a life-changing facility for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
