Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan was the first Indian comic to perform in Hindi in the renowned Madison Square Garden in New York City. On Instagram, the comedian shared the heartwarming experience with his followers. His “sakth launda” attitude and approachable humor have made him famous throughout India. Zakir wrote about how daunting it felt to play for “6,000 people with Hindi comedy,” referring to it as a “big day.” He continued by expressing gratitude to his staff and friends for their support throughout what he called a “special milestone.”

Famous names were among those applauding him. He revealed that the evening was made even more memorable by the appearance of his friend, actor Kal Penn, and celebrity chef Vikas Khanna. He wrote, in part, “I am still absorbing… Theek se bataunga kaisa laga thote din baad. Before the show, his friend, famous chef Vikas Khanna, also posted a heartfelt message.

Khanna added, “God is kind to people who are kind,” referring to Zakir’s accomplishment as a “dream come true.” And as the world sees our boy make history tonight, our dream is becoming a reality. Even though I never leave Bungalow, I will be in the crowd today to support this man as he takes the stage, paving the way for millions of children to follow, out of love and respect. After winning Comedy Central’s “India’s Best Stand-Up” contest, Zakir Khan initially gained notoriety in 2012. He has now amassed a sizable following in India and outside.
