Arunachal Pradesh police rescued a 17-year-old girl who had been reportedly kidnapped in Tezpur, Sonitpur district of Assam, and arrested the accused. The incident highlights the vigilance and quick response of the police in protecting minors and ensuring law and order.

The girl, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, was reportedly taken without her parents’ consent by 19-year-old Shankar Nath of Likhok Village, Sonitpur, Assam. Acting on a missing person complaint, the Naharlagun police traced and recovered her safely in Likhok Gaon, Tezpur, on September 2. The operation was conducted under the leadership of SI Sunny Hodong, with assistance from ASI Dusu Tachang, L/Ct. Dani Ampi, and Ct. Tadar Amit. The accused, Shankar Nath, was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.

A formal case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station under NLG P.S. Case No. 120/25 u/s 137(2) BNS. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the abduction and to ensure the victim’s safety and well-being. Nyelam Nega, Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun, urged youth to focus on education and skill development rather than unlawful activities. “Violating the law only brings setbacks,” Nega said. “Knowledge, hard work, and discipline are the real paths to opportunities and a better future.”
