In a move aimed at fostering stronger civil-military relations and bringing development closer to remote communities, the Indian Army today inaugurated the Mayudia Café at the breathtaking Mayudia Pass in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley. The café was formally opened by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dao Division, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Fwwrman Brahma, senior Army officers, enthusiastic locals, and members of the Spear Corps.

Perched amidst snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys, Mayudia Pass has long been a favourite destination for travellers and a strategic location for security forces. Despite its growing popularity, the region lacked even a basic refreshment facility for tourists and locals. With the opening of the Mayudia Café, that void has finally been filled. The café promises not only a place for food and rest but also a vibrant cultural hub showcasing the hospitality and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative goes beyond serving food and beverages. It reflects the Indian Army’s broader commitment to grassroots development and community upliftment in frontier regions. Officials said the café is designed to promote local flavours, create new avenues for entrepreneurship, and encourage eco-friendly tourism.

Speaking at the ceremony, the GOC of the Dao Division described the café as “not merely a place to rest, but a symbol of hope, opportunity, and friendship.” He added that the Army’s aim was to create lasting bonds of trust and cooperation with the local population. Deputy Commissioner Fwwrman Brahma welcomed the Army’s initiative and noted that such projects significantly help in bridging civil-military gaps. “The opening of Mayudia Café will not only serve travellers but will also create opportunities for the local community. It is a welcome step towards sustainable development in this remote region,” Brahma said.
