Heavy rain-triggered landslides were reported near Jang town in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district, blocking key stretches of the strategic Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road, a critical supply line to the frontier areas. However, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) restored traffic movement by Wednesday midnight, ensuring uninterrupted movement of military convoys and essential supplies, a Defence spokesperson said on Thursday.

The landslides took place on Wednesday evening, blocking key stretches of the strategic road. Despite the adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall, 42 BRTF under Project Vartak, BRO swung into action immediately. Working under incessant rainfall and difficult conditions, the teams ensured all locations were cleared and traffic flow restored within a short span of time by the midnight.

The BRO personnel also reached out to stranded tourists, providing them with basic assistance including food and drinking water, until the roads were made safe for movement. Restoration of these critical routes ensured timely relief to civilians and uninterrupted passage of military convoys and essential supplies. The Border Roads Organisation continues to uphold its ethos of “Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam” and remains steadfast in maintaining vital connectivity across the inhospitable terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
