LG Electronics India made an impressive debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday, listing at ₹1,710.10, over 50% above its issue price. However, what truly caught public attention was the company’s Managing Director, Hong Ju Jeon, delivering his entire address in Hindi during the listing ceremony. The South Korean executive won widespread praise online for speaking fluently in India’s national language, with many calling the gesture “heartwarming.” One social media user even joked that if their IPO were subscribed over 50 times in South Korea, they too would speak fluent Korean.

The company’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) saw an exceptional response, being subscribed 54.02 times by the end of the bidding period. Hong Ju Jeon, who became MD of LG Electronics India in January 2023, previously headed the company’s Gulf operations and served as Managing Director for Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. Upon taking charge, Jeon expressed enthusiasm about India’s dynamic and diverse market, emphasizing plans to strengthen LG’s presence through consumer-focused innovation and localized product offerings.
