According to a defense spokesman on Friday, an 18-member delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), located in New Delhi, traveled to Kibithu in the Anjaw district of Arunachal on Thursday to honor the soldiers who fought in the 1962 Battle of Walong and to evaluate operational readiness along the Line of Actual Control. According to defense spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat of Guwahati, the delegation, which included top military authorities, civil sector officers, and representatives from friendly foreign nations participating in the ongoing NDC course, paid somber respects at the Walong War Memorial. The location honors the ultimate sacrifice made by Indian soldiers who showed extraordinary bravery in one of the bloodiest battles of the 1962 India-China War, the Battle of Walong.

The troops in Arunachal Pradesh defended the vital Walong sector, which governed access along the eastern border, in spite of being vastly outnumbered. Their unwavering spirit continues to inspire generations of military and civilians alike, the delegation said, expressing profound respect for their sacrifice. The team was given thorough briefings on the deployment plans, operational readiness, and high level of readiness of Indian Army forces positioned in forward zones along the strategically vital eastern border during the visit.
