After the Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning their first World Cup, Palash Muchhal, a music director and filmmaker, became the biggest supporter of his cricketer girlfriend Smriti Mandhana. It all seems like a dream, Palash acknowledged. At Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, the Indian women’s cricket team won the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. For the first time in their history, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team won the event after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the summit match at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Palash, the music composer and cricket player Smriti Mandhana’s partner, later couldn’t contain his enthusiasm as he reacted to her historic victory. He posted a picture of the two happy inside the stadium on Instagram. Smriti is shown in the picture holding the coveted World Cup trophy and grinning as she drapes the Indian flag over her shoulders. Palash can be seen standing next to her, his arm encircling her tenderly. He captioned it, asking, “Am I still dreaming?”
He included a photo of Smriti with the prize in a different post. In the picture, his arm is visible, displaying a tattoo that says “SM18.” Smriti’s jersey number is 18, which is interesting. Palash’s sincere support for his fiancée is being hailed by social media users as “relationship goals.” One noted, “The tattoo, the man, and the trophy, she got everything,” while another shared, “Men hyping their women is the best genre.” It has been almost 50 years since the Indian women’s team played their first match in 1976, yet they have yet to win the World Cup title.
