Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona has highlighted the vast tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh during a major travel and tourism exhibition held in New Delhi. Speaking at a consultative dialogue during SATTE, South Asia’s leading travel and tourism exhibition, Sona said Arunachal Pradesh offers a wide range of tourism experiences. The exhibition was held at the Yashobhoomi International Convention Centre in New Delhi from February 25 to 27. The minister said the state is often described as a “mini India” because of its rich cultural diversity. He noted that Arunachal is home to more than 23 major tribes and over 100 sub-tribes. Each tribe has its own traditions, dialects, dress, festivals and food habits. He said this cultural diversity makes the state unique and attractive for visitors.Sona also spoke about the natural beauty of the state. He said Arunachal offers nature tourism, wildlife tourism, historical tourism, religious and spiritual tourism, and adventure tourism. From snow-covered mountains and green valleys to rivers and forests, the state has much to offer travellers seeking different experiences.

The minister further pointed to the improvement in connectivity in recent years. He said better road links and air connectivity have made travel easier for tourists. He expressed confidence that the tourism sector in the state has a strong future.During the three-day exhibition, the Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Department set up a stall to showcase the state’s tourism offerings. Officials displayed information about cultural heritage, natural landscapes and adventure activities available in different parts of the state. According to a release from the tourism department, the exhibition saw participation of more than 45,000 visitors from across India and over 50 countries. The department said that such platforms provide an important opportunity for emerging tour operators and hospitality units from Arunachal to reach a wider audience.

The release stated that the event served as a useful networking platform. It allowed tourism stakeholders from the state to interact directly with travel agents, tour operators and potential visitors. “The event served as an effective networking platform for tourism stakeholders, fostering meaningful interactions between service providers and potential travellers,” the release said. The department also informed that several enquiries were generated during the exhibition. These enquiries are expected to result in an increase in tourist arrivals to Arunachal Pradesh in the coming months.
