Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed strong condemnation regarding the racial abuse experienced by three women from Arunachal Pradesh while residing in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. He described the incident as “shameful” and stated that such behavior is entirely unacceptable in society. Following the incident, Khandu proactively engaged with the Delhi Police Commissioner to advocate for immediate and stringent action against the perpetrators, who are currently evading arrest. The Chief Minister reassured that the police will apprehend them swiftly and deal with them according to the law, emphasizing that the safety, dignity, and justice for the affected women are of utmost priority.

In a parallel response, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also condemned the incident, highlighting that racial discrimination and sexual harassment of women from the Northeast should not merely be sensationalized and forgotten after peaking in news headlines. He called the incident “completely unacceptable” and referenced a prior case involving a woman from Nagaland who had faced similar abuse, describing it as deeply shameful. Sangma underscored the need for a civilized nation to not tolerate actions that outrage a woman’s modesty, appealing to the authorities for strict actions against those responsible, as they too are regarded as sisters and daughters in society.
