Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fourth edition of SEMICON India 2025 on September 2 at Yashobhoomi (IICC), New Delhi. The event, running until September 4, has doubled in size compared to last year, according to the government. This year, for the first time, four country pavilions—Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea—will be featured, along with six country-specific roundtables with nations such as the US, Netherlands, and Japan. Nine Indian states are expected to take part, up from six last year. Notably, there are no Chinese exhibitors despite China being a major player in semiconductors. Exhibitor participation has surged to 350, with 1,100 booths, up from under 200 last year. Over 50 CXOs and delegates from 33 countries, including researchers and academics, are set to attend.

IT Secretary S Krishnan noted high global interest, with exhibitor slots maxed out, reflecting growing confidence in India’s semiconductor ambitions. India’s focus remains on mature technologies due to high costs associated with advanced nodes. Around ₹76,000 crore under the Semiconductor Mission is nearly fully committed, with companies competing to produce the first Made-in-India chip, especially in Gujarat’s Sanand region.
