AkzoNobel India’s Project Revive, a skill-building initiative in decorative painting, has transformed over 800 drug-rehabilitated youth across Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Launched in 2021, the program equips participants with professional painting skills, creating livelihood opportunities while fostering market activity in the Northeast.

Initially piloted in Manipur, the project has expanded to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, benefiting 840 individuals across 34 Drug Rehabilitation Centers (DRCs). Graduates have found employment as professional painters, boosting local demand for skilled labor and enhancing the economic ecosystem in these states.

In Itanagar, the initiative has had a significant impact on the local market. With the rising need for professional painting services, businesses and households are benefiting from a skilled workforce trained under Project Revive. The influx of rehabilitated painters is driving growth in the decorative coatings sector, creating a ripple effect on allied industries like construction and home improvement. Project Revive’s achievements were recognized at the 2nd North East CSR Awards 2024 in Guwahati, where it received a Special Mention for its role in sustainable development. AkzoNobel India’s Executive Director, RohitTotla, stated, “The program is not just about skill-building; it’s about creating long-term market and community resilience.”
