The transition from MGNREGA to the new VB-GRAM (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission) law has hit a hurdle in Punjab. The state’s Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, alleged today that the Central Government is withholding over ₹3,000 crore in labor dues, accusing the Union of “misleading” rural workers. As the new 125-day work guarantee takes effect, several states are raising concerns about the digital infrastructure required to manage the “Skill-Credit” system transition.
