The Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) has emerged as the undisputed champion of the 5th Jarbom Gamlin State-Level Boxing Championship, delivering a dominant performance that saw them secure the top spot on the medals table. The academy’s boxers showcased exceptional skill and resilience throughout the tournament, finishing with an impressive haul of 10 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
The competition for the podium remained fierce until the final bouts. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, Naharlagun, gave a spirited chase to finish in second place. SAI’s contingent bagged a total of 16 medals, comprising 6 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze. The Kurung Kumey district rounded out the top three, securing the third position with 6 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. The 5th edition of the Jarbom Gamlin Championship continues to serve as a vital scouting ground for boxing talent in Arunachal Pradesh. Officials noted that the high technical standard displayed by the athletes—particularly from the top-tier academies like SLSA and SAI—bodes well for the state’s representation at upcoming national-level fixtures.
While veteran districts like East Kameng and West Kameng maintained their presence in the top ten, the appearance of newer administrative units and academies in the medal tally highlights the deepening roots of the sport in the region. The tournament concluded with a call to maintain this momentum, ensuring that the legacy of the late Jarbom Gamlin is honored through the continued excellence of the state’s youth in the sporting arena.
