Vir Das, a comedian, recently recounted an experience on the Moment of Silence podcast hosted by Sakshi Shivdasani and Naina Bhan, regarding his interaction with the late veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor had collaborated with Das in a minor role in Namaste London and suggested that Das was destined for significant success. Years later, Das encountered Kapoor once more on a flight and reminisced about how he had a playful argument with Neetu Kapoor over a slice of cake. Kapoor remarked that he would consume Das’s cake if he were Rishi Kapoor. Das subsequently met Kapoor again five years later on another flight and recounted the tale of how he could enjoy his cake if he were Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, in Mumbai, India, at the age of 67. He had been fighting leukaemia for two years and had received treatment in New York for nearly a year before returning to India in 2019. Despite early indications of improvement, Kapoor’s health declined in 2020.
