The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently investigating the case involving former Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, who is now absconding. SIT Superintendent of Police Shivendu Bhushan has indicated that efforts to locate Potom have been intensified, although he refrained from providing detailed comments on the investigation’s progress. The SIT is examining all potential angles while conducting ongoing search operations.
Previously, on January 23, the Gauhati High Court’s Itanagar Permanent Bench revoked Potom’s bail, which was initially granted on November 4 of last year after a 14-day period of judicial custody that began on October 27. At the time of his arrest, Potom was serving as a Special Secretary (PWD) in New Delhi following a transfer from the ICR.
Potom’s arrest is linked to the suicide of 19-year-old Gomchu Yekar, who died on October 23, 2025, in Lekhi village. In a suicide note, Yekar implicated Potom along with engineer Likwang Lowang, who is now deceased. Potom faces charges of abetment to suicide under Sections 108, 271, and 272/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the investigation continues.
