A driver by the name of Kinto Basumatary misappropriated his employer’s ATM card and withdrew funds from several ATM locations within the Itanagar Capital Region. A formal complaint was filed on June 19, leading to the registration of a case at the Papu Hills Police Station. In an attempt to avoid capture, Basumatary adopted various false identities. A team under the leadership of DySP Tasso Kato successfully located and arrested Basumatary while he was in the process of obtaining petroleum. The Superintendent of Police urged individuals to confirm the identification and criminal history of potential hires, refrain from disclosing financial information to trusted employees, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station in order to mitigate the risk of financial fraud and related crimes.
