Arunachal Pradesh Governor emphasized the need to strengthen higher education by focusing on quality, innovation, and youth empowerment during a high-level meeting with representatives from Himalayan University and the state’s Department of Higher Education (RUSA) at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. The Governor called for urgent measures to raise academic standards across government and private institutions, highlighting the importance of skill-based and leadership-focused programmes to prepare students for national growth and employability. Stressing youth empowerment as a key priority, he urged universities to design curricula that align with the evolving needs of the job market and contribute to the state’s socio-economic development.

Discussions also explored Arunachal Pradesh’s potential in agriculture and industry. The Governor pointed to opportunities in vegetable exports and agro-based enterprises, stressing the importance of collaboration between universities, government agencies, and private stakeholders to drive research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The delegation included Prakash Divakaran, Vice-Chancellor of Himalayan University; Minto Ete, Deputy Director of Higher Education (RUSA); Vijay Tripathi, Registrar; and Kido Bagra, Deputy Registrar. Speaking on the occasion, Divakaran reaffirmed the university’s commitment to advancing education and socio-economic growth in the state and appreciated the Governor’s guidance.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to promoting academic excellence, sustainable development, and leadership among the youth, signaling a focused push towards a more skilled and empowered generation in Arunachal Pradesh.
