The 72-room Krishna Kumari Tribal Girls’ Hostel at the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) campus in Namsai was officially opened by Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik. On March 19, 2024, the governor had previously placed the facility’s foundation stone. The governor praised the university’s dedication to inclusive infrastructure and stated that the hostel would offer a safe and supportive setting, assisting in removing obstacles such as cost, distance, or safety that frequently keep young tribal girls from pursuing higher education.
According to an official statement released here, he referred to the hostel as “a gateway to the dreams of tribal students, aligning with the spirit of the aspirational district of Namsai.” Parnaik praised the new boarding facility’s well-thought-out design and high-quality construction during his visit. During the same occasion, the governor also gave laptops to 55 kids from different fields who had excelled academically. He referred to the laptop as a “key to knowledge” and advised pupils to use it as a “friend, guide, and philosopher” in order to improve their articulation and learning abilities.
The Krishna Kumari Hostel, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore, has four single-occupancy rooms and 68 twin-sharing rooms. For students from native villages around the Northeast, it provides clean, safe, and well-equipped housing with wholesome meals, round-the-clock power backup, unbroken Wi-Fi, and a safe environment to foster focused academic life. The university’s “Students and Alumni Upgrade Program,” which promoted academic achievement and digital empowerment, included the laptop giveaway.
