The four-day-long “Shaurya Motorcycle Rally” concluded on Friday, October 17, at the under-construction Neelam Tebi War Memorial in Keyi Panyor District, serving as a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who fought in the 1962 India–China War. The rally, which began on October 14 from Likabali Military Station, covered nearly 900 kilometres across Arunachal Pradesh’s challenging terrains, retracing the historic routes once traversed by the Indian Army during the war. The route took riders through strategic and remote locations, including Basar, Borarupak, Menga, Taksing, Daporijo, and Ziro.
A team of 20 riders, comprising serving personnel from the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) alongside 12 civilians from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, participated in the journey. Beyond commemorating the heroes, the rally focused on community engagement. Participants interacted with local residents and students, felicitated community leaders, and conducted awareness campaigns promoting “Tribal Unity,” “Nation Building,” and the State Government’s initiatives of “No Drugs & No School Dropouts.”
At both the Shere Thapa War Memorial and Neelam Tebi War Memorial, the riders paid solemn homage to the 1962 war heroes, reflecting on their bravery under extreme conditions. The event also underscored the importance of civil-military cooperation in Arunachal Pradesh’s border areas, a crucial element for national security and community bonding.
