
In a significant step towards enhancing research, innovation, and healthcare in Arunachal Pradesh, the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun, and the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in academics, research, training, innovation, and student-faculty exchange. The MoU was formally inked at TRIHMS by Director Dr. Moji Jini and NERIST Registrar Dr. M.K. Camder, with senior officials including NERIST Director Prof. Narendranath S, deans, and faculty members from both institutes in attendance. The partnership seeks to combine the expertise of Arunachal Pradesh’s premier medical college with that of its leading technology institute to address local healthcare challenges effectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Jini described the collaboration as a “significant beginning”, highlighting the potential of the joint initiative to deliver practical solutions for patients and society. She emphasized that the partnership would provide avenues for interdisciplinary research, encouraging innovation at the intersection of medicine and technology. Prof. Narendranath stressed that the MoU should not remain a mere formality, but must translate into tangible outcomes, accelerating research and innovation aimed at improving healthcare delivery across Arunachal Pradesh and the wider Northeast region.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen capacity-building in both institutions, create opportunities for students and faculty to engage in cutting-edge research, and foster initiatives with real-world applications in healthcare. Both institutes expressed optimism that this partnership will set a benchmark for academic and technological cooperation in the region.
