ARRESTED (2)

In a decisive move against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotic Squad of Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh seized 11.10 grams of suspected heroin and arrested two women during a targeted raid in Solungtoo village. The operation, carried out on Monday following a credible tip-off, led to the arrest of 31-year-old Shakuntala Rai. Police officials confirmed that the heroin was carefully hidden in a white plastic soap case, suggesting attempts to avoid detection. The seizure was conducted under the guidelines of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with a Gazetted Officer present to ensure transparency and legality during the process.

Further investigations into the source of the contraband prompted authorities to raid the residence of another suspect, Nang Momi Hopak, also aged 31. She was arrested as the alleged supplier of the narcotics. Both accused are currently in police custody and have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

The Namsai Police Department has reiterated its strong stance against drug-related crimes, highlighting the operation as part of a broader campaign to curb the spread of narcotics in the district. “Our goal is to create a drug-free society and protect the youth from the dangers of substance abuse,” said a senior officer from the Anti-Narcotic Squad.
