UIDAI CEO Inaugurates Aadhaar Seva Kendra to Expand Citizen Services

New centre aims to streamline Aadhaar enrolment, updates and corrections while strengthening service delivery.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chief Executive Officer Bhuvnesh Kumar on Friday inaugurated a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra at Bank Tinali in Itanagar, aimed at improving access to Aadhaar-related services for residents.
Following the inauguration, Kumar inspected the facilities and reviewed the functioning of the centre. During his visit, he interacted with staff members and urged them to provide services to the public with dedication and efficiency.
Speaking to the media, Kumar said the UIDAI-authorised centre will be operated by BLS International Services Ltd, a Delhi-based outsourcing firm. The company had secured a ₹2,055.35 crore contract from UIDAI last year to establish and operate district-level Aadhaar Seva Kendras across India for a six-year period.
The newly opened centre will offer a range of Aadhaar-related services, including new enrolments, correction of personal details such as name or address, and updating mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar. Kumar said the facility would strengthen Aadhaar service delivery in the state and help residents resolve enrolment-related issues more conveniently.
He added that the district administration can also utilise the centre’s services during the Seva Aapke Dwar programme conducted in villages to ensure wider outreach of government services.
The UIDAI chief also highlighted the importance of mandatory biometric updates for children. He explained that biometric details like fingerprints and iris scans are not fully captured during early Aadhaar enrolment and need to be updated as children grow.
According to UIDAI guidelines, biometric updates for children are required twice—once between the ages of 5 and 7 and again between 15 and 17 years, known as the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU-2).
Sources said that biometric update camps being organised in schools will remain free of cost until September 2026, encouraging parents to update their children’s Aadhaar records.
Several officials attended the inauguration ceremony, including UIDAI Director Praveen Chaudhary, Deputy Director General Shailendra Singh, UIDAI Guwahati Regional Office Director Swapan Kumar Saxena, Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner Toko Babu and Economics and Statistics Director Bebing Megu.
