Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Sunday laid the foundation stones for two key development projects in Papum Pare district, marking another significant step in the government’s push for inclusive growth in Arunachal Pradesh. The projects, worth Rs 3 crore, have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The twin projects include the upgradation of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Jote under Sangdupota Circle, sanctioned at Rs 2 crore, and the construction of a Multipurpose Hall at Sangring village in Sagalee, sanctioned at Rs 1 crore. Both projects aim to strengthen healthcare facilities and create spaces for community development in rural pockets of the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rijiju underlined the Government of India’s commitment to ensuring balanced regional development. He said the PMJVK is designed to bridge infrastructure gaps in minority-concentrated areas and improve quality of life. “These projects are not just about buildings or facilities; they are about creating community assets that directly benefit people. They must serve as symbols of inclusive growth and equitable development,” he remarked. The Minister called upon implementing agencies to adhere to the highest quality standards and complete the work within stipulated timelines. He also urged officers to act with “sincerity, dedication, and accountability” so that public resources are optimally utilized.

The Primary Health Centre at Jote, once developed, is expected to serve hundreds of families in the Sangdupota Circle, where access to advanced healthcare facilities has long been a challenge. Local residents have often highlighted the need for better medical infrastructure, particularly in rural and hilly areas where travel to larger hospitals can be difficult. The Multipurpose Hall at Sangring village will provide a modern venue for community gatherings, cultural programs, youth activities, and local events, filling a critical gap in public infrastructure. It is expected to serve as a hub of social interaction, promoting unity and engagement in the region.
