Pinku

Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, has reinforced its position as one of India’s leading quaternary care institutions with the successful recovery of 33-year-old Pinku Mani Talukdar from Guwahati, who underwent 18 reconstructive surgeries after a near-fatal road accident.

On January 20, Pinku sustained severe injuries when a speeding truck dragged her several metres, causing extensive tissue loss and fractures. After initial stabilisation in Guwahati, she was airlifted to Delhi, where several hospitals declined treatment due to the complexity of her case. Amrita Hospital admitted her immediately, with Senior Consultant Dr. Shikha Gupta leading the emergency intervention. Timely multi-specialty coordination saved her leg and life.

Market traders point out that limited specialised facilities in the region compel patients to seek treatment in distant metros, impacting both recovery time and costs. They stress the need for better regional medical investment to support local economies. Now back  Pinku is mobile and independent. The case highlights Amrita Hospital’s readiness to handle complex trauma cases, underscoring its role in India’s advanced healthcare market.
