Unlocking economic opportunities and boosting tourism through robust road infrastructure remains a top priority for the central government in Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the three-day Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) in Tirap district, Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Ajay Tamta, emphasized that ongoing infrastructure projects, like National Highway 13, are designed to meet the aspirations of a developed India by 2047. Highlighting APSTS as a lifeline for remote communities, the Union Minister flagged off three new buses for the district to honor Khonsa’s historic role in the state’s transport evolution.

Echoing the vision for a safer, more efficient transport network, Member of Parliament Tapir Gao advocated for regular training of drivers, conductors, and mechanics to ensure heightened service quality. The milestone event also brought major development announcements for the region. State Transport Minister Ojing Tasing declared the construction of a brand-new bus terminal in Khonsa as a golden jubilee gift to the people of Tirap, while addressing the unique terrain challenges that require region-specific transport policies. Local MLA Wanglin Lowangdong welcomed the initiatives, further appealing for modern infrastructure and luxury buses to upgrade local transit.

The historic five-decade milestone concluded on a high note, celebrating both infrastructure growth and local culture. The evening featured vibrant performances by indigenous community troupes—including the Wancho, Nocte, Tutsa, Tangsa, and Ollo communities—and culminated in an electrifying musical performance by Indian Idol winner Rishi Singh. Attended by top government officials, community leaders, and the public, the celebration successfully underscored the critical synergy between strong transport networks and social progress in Northeast India.
