The Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) Department of Arunachal Pradesh has prioritised improved public service delivery and greater administrative efficiency, as discussed in a review meeting held at DK Convention Hall on Friday.

Chairing the meeting, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu said the department plays a crucial role in citizens’ daily lives by ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He appreciated the dedication of officers and their efforts in maintaining foodgrain storage and distribution systems despite operational challenges.

The minister urged officials to adopt best practices from other states and strengthen transparency through increased public awareness. He also directed officers to ensure that files are processed without unnecessary delays.

Taking note of manpower shortages, Wangsu instructed officials to prepare a proposal for additional staffing, including computer operators, to improve departmental efficiency. He also assured officers that promotion-related concerns would be addressed with due consideration.

Food & Civil Supplies Secretary Kanto Danggen emphasised the importance of documenting and sharing successful district-level initiatives to enable replication across the state. He also called for stronger coordination between district officials and administrations to ensure timely implementation of welfare schemes.

During the meeting, officials presented reports on PDS operations, LPG and POL distribution, e-KYC implementation, smart PDS initiatives, supply chain management, and beneficiary inclusion processes. Administrative matters such as recruitment rules, staff vacancies, budget allocations, asset management, and ongoing projects were also reviewed.

The meeting was attended by the Director, DFCSOs, and senior officials from across the state, focusing on strengthening service delivery and improving public distribution systems.
