Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed monumental economic growth and a massive infrastructure push over the last decade, laying a resilient foundation for its emergence as a developed and strategically important frontier state. Interacting with journalists to commemorate ten successful years of his government, Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the state’s rapid transformation across key sectors, including economy, connectivity, healthcare, and education.

Presenting the state’s economic milestone, Chief Minister Khandu revealed that Arunachal Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has surged by nearly 149 percent, while the state budget has grown by over 238 percent. The state’s internal revenue resources have grown more than five-fold, and the per capita income has more than doubled, positioning Arunachal as one of the fastest-growing economies in the Northeast. The region’s infrastructure has also scaled up dramatically, with annual road construction jumping from 300 kilometers in 2016 to nearly 1,800 kilometers. Currently, over 4,000 kilometers of national highways are under development, significantly expanding the rural road network.

Aviation and digital networks have also reached new heights. The Donyi Polo Airport now serves as a key aviation hub with regular flights to Delhi, complemented by helicopter services connecting 25 destinations. Furthermore, over 2,600 new 4G towers have brought high-speed digital connectivity to remote regions. Khandu emphasized that historic investments under the Frontier Highway and Vibrant Villages Programme are fortifying border areas with 1,000 kilometers of new roads, boosting national security and local growth. In education, the newly launched ‘Mission Shikshit Arunachal 2029’ is driving comprehensive reforms, backed by a 750-crore rupee infrastructure sanction and advanced AI-enabled monitoring systems to secure a brighter future for the state’s youth.
