The Assam Rifles organised a humanitarian outreach programme in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district providing artificial limbs to persons with disabilities from Tirap and neighbouring Longding district. The programme was held in Khonsa under the Assam Rifles’ civic action initiative, Operation Sadbhavana, which focuses on welfare activities and support for people living in remote and border areas. According to an official statement, beneficiaries for the programme were identified earlier in coordination with the district administration. After the identification process, the selected persons were provided prosthetic limbs during the event.

Officials said the main aim of the initiative was to help persons with physical disabilities improve their mobility and live a more independent life. Many of the beneficiaries had been facing difficulties in carrying out daily activities due to their physical condition. During the programme, medical experts assisted in the distribution process and helped ensure that the artificial limbs were properly fitted for the beneficiaries. The assistance is expected to help the recipients move more freely and participate in daily activities with greater confidence.

Officials of the Assam Rifles said such humanitarian programmes are part of the force’s continued efforts to support local communities in the region. They added that Operation Sadbhavana is aimed at promoting welfare activities and addressing the needs of people living in remote and sometimes conflict-affected areas.“Through such initiatives, the Assam Rifles continues to contribute towards the socio-economic upliftment and well-being of the local population in Tirap district,” the statement said.
