The Pangin block unit of the Kepang Welfare Society (KWS) organised a social service-cum-cleanliness and plantation programme in Siang district on Sunday, with Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu and Pangin Circle Officer Duyu Ongku joining the initiative. The programme focused on promoting cleanliness, improving public spaces and encouraging environmental conservation in and around Pangin town. As part of the drive, the PHED SE Circle office complex was thoroughly cleaned, followed by a mass plantation programme within the premises. A social service activity was also undertaken at the general ground, where sand and gravel were used to fill and level the market shed area, which had previously remained swampy and waterlogged, causing inconvenience to the public during the rainy season. The improvement is expected to make the market area cleaner, safer and more accessible. Similarly, the area near Pangin Gangging and the community hall was filled, levelled and cleaned to create a more functional car parking space. KWZ Pangin-Boleng zonal president Tagam Panggam praised KWS members for taking the initiative for community welfare. Deputy Commissioner Taggu appreciated the efforts and urged the members to continue such community-oriented activities, while stressing the need for proper care of the newly planted saplings. Circle Officer Ongku also lauded the initiative and encouraged the society to undertake more programmes aimed at maintaining cleanliness and improving public spaces.
